ducati- I often wonder myself about where they went. I cannot understand why they left. I personally feel this forum is better than many others on line. doc Rx

RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Occasionally an "old timer" will email me regarding a post or something. Some get irritated with others, I'm sure some get tired of answering the same questions day after day, when the answers to the very same questions were posted the day before. Maybe, some have even moved on to "The Big JD Junkyard in the sky".

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I am still around.Just finished a long fall harvest and was a busy summer. But now that winter is near I will be around more.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

johndeere,

Glad to see you back. I thought something bad happened.

As for the regulars, who knows.

I tend to stick around here because I don't surf the net for group hugs and prayer.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I often wondered where old Willy Neumenz (sorry for the spelling) went....used to really enjoy that guy.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Been here for over 5 years - I think most have migrated to MTF or just quit posting. I just can't get into switching to MTF but I believe its a better forum.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

All online forums have this turnover. People get tired of answering the same questions over and over again. So they might just start lurking, waiting for the more interesting questions, and eventually stop looking at posts at all. Or they might move to a different forum, or find other interests. Or they decide that they would rather use their tractor than answer questions about it. Older people occasionally move to the tractor forum in the clouds.

I've been responding to questions about Matlab on one newsgroup for roughly 17 years now. I can only think of one other person who has consistently been on that group longer than me. Most people get burned out after only a few years or even less.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Hmmmmmm. What is MTF.I put MTF in 'search',and it came up with 1,930,000 titles.I looked at ten of them, and had 1,930,990 to go and and gave up. tbk

Tom

Gargle for "my tractor forum". :^)

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I actually like the way all the questions are in one group here better than the way MTF sorts them out by manufacturer. People might have answers for someone in the Craftsman area, but since they own a JD they may never go to that area (or vice versa). I am just happy to see lb59 gone.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Yeah, I think 1b59 took a load of green cards and hopped a saucer back to Mars.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

You guys MISS him! and you know it.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Rusty Jones is still alive and kicking! Been busy all summer. Have more time now. Old computer bought the farm, so it took some re-upping to get back into the newer box!
I ain't leaving!
Rusty

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Is Lb59 really gone, gone LOL or just stopped posting?

Johndeere I droped you an email the other day just saying hello !

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I love MTF as well, also think this site rocks too!
I also found a few at xxx machineunderground.com very cool site as well

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I've been around a while and I have a theory about what is happening. Yes, there is turn over. We get a new group in and everybody gets around to post'n, and boast'n on which lawn tractor is better, and we've had some really good flame wars on the subject. But sooner or later johndeere will get around to posting pictures of his whomping BIG combines and Tractors, and that makes folks realize they are arguing about toys, which of course we are, and folks sort of slink off into the hinderlands. johndeere of course doesn't mean this to happen, but if it's your game to have a bigger, better toy, he just stops the conversation in its tracks.

Just funning JD, but there might be some truth in it.

JTB

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

yes... alot went over to MTF, I did as well and still see some of those folks posting. I like this site and return often. Really miss guys like Modre, kbeitz,Fbeard and others.

Yes, I looked at MTF, but couldn't figure out which forum to look at. Since I have Murray, MTD, and AYP mowers with tecumsum, briggs and kohler engines and tuftorq, peerless and hydrogear hydros.

Then I went to glock talk to look for hints on a glock I bought.

But I always miss johndeere's advice, or is that ignore it?

JerryO

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Been here for about four years, I do check out the MTF some too. There's good about both forums. I see a lot of questions about lawn tractors that I have no experiance on so I keep quiet. If I think I can help I'll speak up. I enjoy makeing things for my tractors that make my life easier(box blade, dump trailer,back-hoe,mounted drag harrow, etc) and I don't hear much about things like that here. Right now I'm figureing out how to put power steering on my ole 1855MF useing parts from a 400JD.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

If you guys get to missing ol lb59 you can find him hanging out over at TBN. His big claim now is to have purchased two BX1500s for less money than one JD X7xx. Has them listed in his sig line but has yet to post pics of them.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I still stop in once in a while to see what's going on. I post if I think I can help, otherwise I just lurk.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Hey Tall Dog -
I droped you a line about a week agao to see how U be?

Did you get it?

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

johnsinva -

thank you for the Lb59 sighting -its now safe to say, I will stay away from that sighting/space cake oddity :)

Did he get the boot here? or just stopped posting because he was popular with the crowd? LOL

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Let me guess, those 2 new BX1500's both came with a front plow and a tiller? He really likes front plows and tillers. Oh, and he likes mowing with his BX23 with both the front loader and backhoe still attached.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

You guys are brutal.....especially to poor 'ol 59 cents per pound.....or whoever he was.

I've been hanging around since I was first tractor hunting back around 2001. Seen alot of folks come and go. There's been a bunch of good advice dished out here and a lot of cuttin'-up too.

My handle used to be Herringbone D28 which has more to do with Martin guitars than it does with fish. They dropped the caps (and lost the meaning) when 'ol Spike cashed in and stopped sending people to Disneyland for breakin the rules. Them were the good 'ol days!!!!!

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Hi Duc, no, I didn't get your message. Doin great though, how bout you and the dogs?

I've been having fun with the XL and the new JB SR. Gonna be sad to have to put it to bed for the winter soon.

I'll be talking to you here, and at the "other" place.

Tall Dog

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Its good to see sites such as xxx.machineunderground.com, MTF and here LB59 zone free

makes for safer secure communications with the aliens

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

This may be just me, but I find that I really hate the ads that take over the screen and can't be shut off until they finish their message. As a result, I have frequently quit a session and moved to something less irritating if I didn't have something I really wanted to get answered. I have followed advice here and log into this site from Firefox instead of Explorer, and that did help, but certainly didn't eliminate the "pop-up's, nor do my fairly sophisticated pop-up blocker or other defences. It may be that his has led others to find a site they can get similar info from without the hassle.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

With Firefox you need to add the add-on "Adblock Plus" that should take care of your problems. I have never seen the pop-ups or adds, but I hear about them from time to time so they must exist.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Well Duc, I'm not sure if he grew tired of the doubting Thomas' here or if he just found a more willing audience over at TBN. I have popped in there from time to time and he apparently has someone who will vouch for him having the 2 BXs. He still spends more time in the L&G section bashing the X700s than he does anywhere else. I wonder if he doesn't realize that a 25hp X748 would run circles around his 15hp BX1500s.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I think he finally found the mother ship, and they took him home, foil and all

Dirt - I checked out the site you mentioned above, pretty cool overall

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I think the "old hands" probably just respond to problems that interest them. I like this forum 'cause it speaks to all brands of tractors. I have picked up many useful tips from guys who own brands other than mine.
Duc,
I assume you ride. How do you like your bike? I have a Valkyrie which I love. I'm 6'6" 270 lbs. so the Valk is perfect for me. Ducati makes some nice bikes though! They have a certain something...

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

One thing Ducati offers is Desmo technology. Google that!

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I am still here also. (fordman 1) i spend the most time at lawnmowercentral.net but also frequent MTF and alot of other tractor/mower related boards. any of you who heard of ArchDean should check out his site tractorsandlife.com

like the rest, i always come back to my "roots" and check out the forums here.
Bernie

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I havent been around much lately but i use both this site and MTF.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

LakeGuy/Mownie

They are unique thats for sure - but the competition is always fierce in that area. Im not into it as much these days - Just look at the new Ducati 1098, 160 HP in basic trim, 180 HP in racing, both available for the street. The 996 of old was weak at 112 HP. Im glad they brought the look back, the 999 was dog ugly IMHO

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Duc/Mownie,
Yeah! Some great technology! I liked the older look as well.
Over 100 hp. is more than enough to get yourself in trouble! ;^)

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Right you are duc. My old Zook GS 1100E has scared the bee geejus out of me a few times in my younger days.

 o
RE: Wre is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Uhhh, dummy......I meant to refer that last post toward lakeguy's last comment but I missed. No harm meant.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

No problem - what they are offering today in that HP, actually is pushing what my skill level could handle effectly, my skills are decent too (personsal opinion of course :)))

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

No worries.
What worries me is the way a lot of riders these days are convinced to jump right into performance machines. My neighbor bought an R1, rode it twice and now it sits 'cause it scared the @#ll out of him! I notice that fatalities have gone up as well. Bad 'cause of the personal tragedy but also because it is more fuel for the people who would like to take motorcycles off the road. These days my riding involves cruising, smelling the air, seeing the sights, etc.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Im diggin xxx.machineunderground.com the most these days, tried the rest....

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I'm still here, been busy moving into the new house--wife is making me nuts. Inlaws are down for Thanksgiving--grrrrrrr.

Need some seat time, also want to get the chainsaw out.

On the lighter side--I finally got my bigscreen! 52" Sony Bravia. I've held my tongue about the granite (to cut celery on), the professional range (to boil water on) and the big a** butcher block (to cut onions on when you don't want to use the granite), and the big &^%$# ventahood to suck hot air off the professional range. Went down, bought the TV AND the big Onkyo, and ordered 4 more Klipsch speakers to round out the deal.

All of it cost less than the aforementioned kitchen stuff.

She blinked, but it's mine.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!!

Yep, I also miss Wheely Boy. Below is one of his classic pictures.

I would just have to say Tis the Season... Give it 90 Days or so, when the weather inclines and people begin to think warmer days are just around the corner.

All though this might be a bit early...Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...

 o

Tis the season for everybody to get a new tractor under the tree, or whatever method that provides delivery -

Then everybody can run to their favorite forum and post away !

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Hey johndeere, you and wheelyboy and a few others are about the only names I remember because I have been gone for so long. Still around though and doing fine. Less mowing and more golf.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I'm not a frequent poster, but I look in here fairly often and enjoy it.

Yes, lb59 is on TBN, he posts on the Cub forum there, never makes sense, but harmless.

Desmo is great, I love a technology that is a bit different than the mainstream. I've never owned a Ducati but would like to. Along the lines of what Ducati said, I found that my skills (not an advanced rider, a safe intermediate I guess) were not up to the HP on the sportbikes I was riding, plus with 3 kids I didn't have time, so I sold my last bike years ago.

Best of luck in the New Year, everyone!

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Hi Houdini is been a long time. You still have that Scotts?

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I gave it to my son who lives in St. Louis. It is still going strong though and he loves it. It replaced an old Craftsman he had for about 10 years. I thought the Craftsman was worn out when he got it but it fooled me.

I hope all is going well with you these days. My new love is my new Honda snowblower!

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Good to see some folks again

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Anybody seen Argee? He's a guy that professes to support the U.S. and U.S. Veterans yet believes it is ok for any country to give shelter to deserters from our Armed Forces. Anyway, he used to be interested in lawn/yard/garden tractors and used to post regularly but haven't seen him lately. He built a new home not long ago and he is heavy into Mac computers. Maybe he's gone ahead with his plans to move North. He sure seems to like it better up there than down in the good ole USA.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

Just working almost everyday. More seat time on my X485 pushing snow then I want. The 345 is down and I don't have the time to tinker so no snowthrower this year. The back blade was pretty good until we got hit with over a foot of snow one day and several inches spread over a few days. Rapidly running out of enough tractor to push with. Really surprised the blade did as well as it did. Nice to have it hanging 4' or so out behind the tractor to help with weight on the tires.

Getting around in 4 wheel drive for the last week. One night I was even a bit nervous that I wouldn't make it home. Pushing snow with my front bumper as I went past a big power company bucket truck in the ditch. Not so bad last night but still used 4 wheel just to get to the bar for a beer. Lots of happy snowmobilers there... ya... snow, snowmobile, and they sit in the bar drinking. Little wonder my cats keep telling me humans are stupid.

: )

Should we go lookin' for lb59, then ???

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I was reading a post from lb59 on another forum and he actually posted some pictures of his Kubota BX fleet. I couldn't believe it.

I think I owe him an apology.

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

I take my hat off to the regulars here. This is one of the best sites for user input, and the Garden Tractor topic is one we all enjoy discussing.

I've been doing this since EXEC-PC in the mid 1980s. Things have changed over the years, and people have changed. With access to the internet available to more people, it has become less personal for all of us.

I myself spend less time on a computer every year, and more time out side. I'm not sure why?

 o
RE: Were is everybody? dont see the regulars anymore?

machiem

dont beat yourself up over him - its good that he actually posted pictures and added some credibility - but how many years did it take for him to do that? could have saved everybody much time and grief
