Temporary repair to float in carburetor kawasaki

Noticed that the float in the carburetor on my John Deere LX188 had a small hole in it. and was full of gas. Tried everything to repair the hole: gas tank repair product, plastic seal. Used my soldering iron with a pointed end and melted the plastic similar to welding. Sealed the hole. Have ordered a new float from John Deere. Used carburetor cleaner from NAPA to soak the carburetor. Did a final cleaning with a tool from Harbor Freight. Air pressure tool and put the pick up in a small can of acetone. Carburetor works well now and engine runs. Thought that others might be interested in this temporary repair. Had inadequate light in my small garage and didn:t notice the pin hole in the float. Tried everything to make the engine, Kawasaki 17hp, 2 cyl. water cooled , run correctly.
