ATV cultivation
Hi folks,
Does anybody have any experience with the ATV tillage stuff? I know that some small attachments are made to be pulled by ATV, like small field cultivators, etc. Just wondering if it is an utterly rinky-dink thing or what.
My situation is that I have a one-acre plot of light soil that I have been trying to manage crops with hand tools and not too surprisingly it is a bit too much. I don't want to go the roto-tiller route because it wrecks the soil IMO and I have built up some nice soil life over a dozen years of careful nursing. All I need is some light cultivation a couple times per year, a field-cultivator would be perfect, to prevent perennial weeds like bittersweet from getting established. The rest I can manage by hoe.
I can't really justify buying a tractor for one acre, so I thought of a used ATV and a small field cultivator. The soil is very light and somewhat stoney but not bad.
