sears suburban 12

my old sears suburban is hard to crank over, the battery is good, so is the s/g and all connections. if you shoot starting fluid into it it will fire and and start spinning faster and start. I suspect the ACR, but want to check base timing but can't find a spec. the lest amount of timing I can get is 20 btdc during cranking. is this correct? or is still to high?

Do you have the old iron Tecumseh w/ the belt driven starter/ generator? Numbers may help off the engine.

Do you have "Winter weight" oil in it?
These old SG motors need all the help they can get.
Worn bushings in the SG can also cause a major decrease in performance.
