Damaged Ginkgo, Can I Save It?

Hello,

I bought a ginkgo about 3 years ago (it was already growing and maybe 4 -5 feet tall). It grew well but was leaning so I staked it to straighten it out. I made a mistake and tied it with heavy twine and the tree grew into the twine and got choked off. The top 3 feet or so got weak and snapped in a storm. So, the remainder of the tree (about four feet) is intact and is still growing (see attached). The area where it broke off appears dead and won't grow. Is there any way to fix this so it will continue to grow taller? I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Thanks!
