bent bald cypress

1st post but long time reader...I have a 15 foot bald cypress that I planted 3 years ago when it was a balled 8 foot tree. It has prospered with its combination of sunlight and ample water. This week when I was gone, we apparently had some strong winds. The top 5 feet with the most recent growth is now bent over at an angle of about 30 degrees compared to the trunk. The diameter of the part where the bend starts is about 1.5 inches. Any idea how or if I need to deal with this? Will it just shoot a new leader straight up? Do I cut it off? Stake it out?

Thanks!
