Winter silouettes, sunrises and sunsets

whaas_5a

Winter is the time of year I get the best sunrises and sunsets from the comfort of my home.

The sky was on fire this morning so thought I share a few.

Please share your winter silhouettes, sunrises and sunsets.

Mainly looking a Eastern Cottonwood, Sugar Maple, Basswood, Crabapple, Northern Pin Oak, White Pine and Green/White Ash in these pictures.

A+++++ pics, whaas!! I might steal one of those for a Facebook cover photo...

Here are a couple I've taken but they certainly are pretty mundane after that opening series

Sunrise over the Cedar River Valley from the garden. The trees are Pseudotsuga menziesii, aka Douglas Fir.

Wisconsin is very different from Seattle. The pictures do not tell. Wisconsin is extremely flat, cold and alkline. The people are agricultural with a culture some described as crazy.

jujujojo, I've only been to Wisconsin once, but I would think the culture in Seattle is crazier than the Cheeseheads in Wisconsin. Just look at the Seahawk fans.

This one was taken in Wheeler, Oregon a few years ago. People were pulling over to take this picture. One kid took a picture of it reflected on the side of his freshly washed car. I should have done that too, but I had been on the road for a few days and my car needed washing. I thought it was a good idea though.

This picture is a reflection of the morning sky and trees in the pond. It looks a bit like a painting.

    Some lovely photos here!
Here's sunset over the river with a spruce on the right in the foreground, a few oaks and silver maples, but mostly white pines along the bank.

    Thanks Frank.
I forgot to mention, I flipped the picture because the reflection was upside down and the trees didn't look right.

    Sunrise from the deck.
I dug the pond with a bulldozer. Fun! It was a very dry year and the pond hasn't been dry since. I got lucky.
