no tree ... nor conifer.. which are trees.. ever stop growing

most size estimates are at ten years ...

the key is looking for any info on an annual growth rate.. and then you can predict its size over the decades ...

one eay way is to take the claimed 16 feet and divide by ten ... which means it will grow about a foot and a half per year ...

and i would presume ... that in 20 years... it will be around 30 feet tall ...

BUT ... i think that growth rate is rather high for Gs.... in my MI .. they simply dont grow all that fast... and if i got 6 to 8 inches a year ... i would be happy ... not talking about dwarfs and what not ...

if you want a small G ... try one of the variegated ones ... they are slower than molasses... PLUS... have really cool leaves... see link ...

I don't think the information given by the nursery in the link above is very reliable.

For 'Autumn Gold' it says "grows up to 4 meters". This cultivar definitely grows bigger than that. It is used as a street tree in the Netherlands. Don't see much difference with a plain Ginkgo biloba so in time this will become a substantial tree.
"Bejing Gold" : 'grows 2 to 3 meters'. Saw young plants of this cultivar in spring and autumn and its yearly growth leads me to think that this one will also become higher than 2-3 meters.

Slow growing and staying reasonably small are: David, Troll (usually shrub like) Mariken (usually shrub like) and Jeosaphat. There are more dwarfs but these are the ones I'm familiar with.

1. When you are dealing with Spring Hill Nursery (the well known mail-order one from Harrison, Ohio), you need to realize who you are dealing with. These people have an abysmal reputation and shouldn't be considered experts at anything plant-related. See their Garden Watchdog entry for a good feel of just how lousy they are.
