A flower usually has 3 sepals and 9 petals organized in three rounds. The inner rounds have 6 petals.

| Really nice. Even without flowers the leaves are nice. It's good to see some greenery, the kittens are eating my houseplants so I had to put them in the basement (the houseplants) so it's nice to see some lush greenery. |

| As beautiful as that Magnolia is, I've chosen not to have any Magnolias in my large garden of 35 years. Several reasons. Magnolias have poor Fall color. I don't want something ruining the picture when all the maples are looking their best in the Fall. Fall color for deciduous trees is a must in my garden. Their leaves are generally pretty large, and tough, and take a long time to decay or dispose of. Most ground covers can't grow under them, and aren't vigorous or coarse enough to swallow the leaves when they can. They also fall apart with a heavy ice load and have a hard time with wind. I'm out on a bluff. I admit I'm a bit picky, but that's the way it is. I sure enjoy them in other people's gardens though. Thanks for the picture Snasxs.
