man these sideways pix drive me crazy ... some have suggested.. its a very short drive .. lol ...

i walk under my trees... i would prune off anything that knocks my hat off ... pokes out my eyes .. etc ...

i would also kill the grass in a 4 foot circle around the trunk.. to keep the idiot with the weedwhip away from the tree... and that would be me.. if it were in my yard ...

after trimming up the low hanging stuff.. i would snap another pic and ask for further guidance... if you wish ...

do you have a pruning saw .. and know how to do it ????

i know nothing of timing on this tree in your area ... and will defer ...

Dr. Bill Reid, KSU/MU pecan specialist has a northern pecan blog - and has some discussions, with photos, of proper pruning techniques. Link below.
You'll have to scan back through various postings over the past couple of years, but you should be able to get some good pointers.
