| i have about 30' long stripe where i planted thujas about 2 years ago hoping to create green privacy fence. the problem is i had no idea thujas from home depot (emerald greens) are the way they are. they grow very slow, i think they just grew few inches in 2 years, they split under snow load because of several trunks they have. so i am looking for alternate and i remember reading on the forum about other kind of thuja but cant find the post anymore, but it was supposed to grow fast and have only one trunk. also my wife likes this myrtle bush she saw somewhere, that supposed to grow fast and stay green all year, so we are also thinking about maybe doing that instead of thujas. if anyone could help me out on thujas or weather myrtle would work or not, or even something else i would appreciate. |

| they are conifers.. there is a conifer forum.. if you are interested .... i dont care otherwise .... you are probably thinking about green giants ... shade restricts growth rates ... and on a lot of these.. you have to remove all but one leader.. so but them smaller ... smaller plants get established faster.. and grow faster than large transplants .. a 2 foot GG will outgrow a 5 foot transplant.. in 5 years ... mail order them.. if you cant find a local source ... ken |
