I've got an old Weeping Cherry from about 1960. The last two years it has only partially flowered and gotten leaves. The other branches stayed bare or partially bare. It also has moss and usnea on the trunk. Is there anything I can do for it? I thought it was from the hard winter last year but it seems even worse this year.

40 to 50 odd years is a pretty long life for an ornamental tree .. w/o pix.. it sounds like it is past its peak .. and time for it to go ... at best.. you could prune out the dead ... ken

An ornamental cherry in the PNW lasting that long is close to a record!! With as many disease and insect problems they contract in this climate, 10-15 years considered pretty decent innings. Ken is on the right track - this tree has greatly outlived its life expectancy and will never regain health and vigor no matter what you attemp. Removal is suggested.

Meanwhile the Japanese admire and publicize huge specimens they claim tremendous ages for. We do have some large Prunus pendula in this area also, that date back decades and are still viable. As well as numerous others obviously well beyond a mere 15 years in place. Some are conspicuously blighted and some are not.
