I just planted a bare root Reliance Peach today. The ground was frozen. I had however predug the hole and filled it with the wood chips that I used for mulch. So, after I removed the chips I was able to fill in the hole with the nice dirt. Not much of it was frozen.

That was the last space that I had for a fruit tree. I had a peach ordered for that spot last year that was an apple by mistake.

I took a nice drive to Stark Brothers today and looked at a few other nice things there. That's where the peach came from. It's about 80 miles round trip for me.

I cut down some old fireblighted apple trees this winter, and I plan to replace them with some pie cherries. I also plan on planting a Burgandy Belle red maple and a Fall Fiesta sugar maple, I'm just not sure where yet.

Some crabapples - Fuchsia Girl, Rosthern, Radiant and Shaughnessy Cohen, dwarf sour cherry - Juliet and a Western Sandcherry. That won`t be happening until about June!!!

Most of these were planted last fall but I haven't seen them in leaf yet =)

Still want to add a 'Daybreak' magnolia after someone here posted a picture along with Parrotia perscia 'Ruby Vase'. I also have seed from several other species that will hopefully turn out.

I've planted some extra bulbs I hadn't gotten around to planting... ...bloodroot, trillium. I also planted a Washington Hawthorne and Redbud.

I plan to plant some Beach Plum. Blue Spruce and Pitch pine, if I can work up the energy.

I was a planting fool for several decades, and many of the youngsters we sowed are hitting maturity and the property bears little resemblance (especially from the air) to the pasture and field it was. For the most part, most have survived and flourished, and we are reversing the process for the ones who got stuck for quick cover to give more room for the more desireable. There are about a dozen oak/buckeye/peach trees I've overwintered I shall stick somewhere on the property just to get them out of pots and a particularly nice little weeping katsura I grafted a couple years ago when I decide is just the right spot. My time is now concentrated on my edibles.......fruit trees/brambles/veggies.

I have the most extensive deciduous install coming up this spring. Promise to post some pics later this spring.

We planted 2 varieties of Blood Orange Citrus, 10 roses, 5 Pakistan Mulberry Trees, 2 Avocados, 1 mango, 1 guava and 2 olive trees. Almost forgot the 35 wine grape vines and 15 fig trees.

I ordered a Douglas Fir seedling on Ebay and it was a little stick covered in pine needles. I planted it in an existing pine grove, and it is now covered with little branches with bright green tips! It's so cute!!

I'm now taking cuttings of pink, red, white, and lavender common geraniums to fill in spots where color is needed.

We are waiting till the nursery gets pistachio trees in, and then we'll plant 2 of those.

We are going to plant several sage AKA Salvia varieties on our slopes this spring too.

I want to try a tall Crape Myrtle. I am not sure about which variety to get for zone 6 that is at least 6 ft tall in maturity. I may get a couple more Live oak "late drop". Those planted in Nov. 2013 died, all but one, that is. Those planted spring 2012 will live, with about 3 inch top die-back. This winter was horrible, and I think the next winter shouldn't be as bad, and starting them this spring gives them some time to root a bit before next winter, which will surely help them survive.
