Red Maple's leaves depressed

Hello,

My ~15ft Red Maple has come alive a little early this year due to the weather, but as of today the leaves are sagging downwards, and seem softer than normal to the touch. Color is normal.

Normally I'd think it needs water but the ground is pretty moist. What do you think? The low temperature this morning was below freezing (30) for the first time in weeks -- not sure if that could have anything to do with it.

Thanks. :-)

Pleth, I doubt the frosty temps hurt them. They are probably always like this when they first leaf out, I'll bet. There's a little period of stress where the new leaves are demanding more from the tree as a whole than that tree is able to provide. It's just lack of sufficient water to induce "turgor", the normal stiffening that leaves undergo as they develop. I'll bet there is no problem.

Yep, droopy is normal when they first leaf out.
