Tree from seed... Help!

Posted by legallyheidi 7B (missreadsalot87@yahoo.com) on

A friend gave me a few leftover seeds for Dwarf Siberian Crabapple trees...but I'm clueless to how to grow a fruit tree from a seed. All she told me was to germinate the seed, and then plant it outdoors...not much help. I have a few apple trees that I've grown from bare-root, but never a seed. Could someone please give me some advice?

Thanks in advance!

I usually plant the seeds in the fall into a pot/flat and leave it out in the garden for the winter cold stratification, when it warms up you'll have them sprout.
You could ask your friend if the seeds went through a cold period, if so,
then yes, just planting them.
