Temporary siting of trees for 1-3 years

Hello, I have some young 1 or 2 year old trees coming to me. I don't have space for them at the moment but know I will down the line. I would like to temporarily plant them for 1-3 years in a spot but I would like to make it easy for me to get them out of them ground when I want to transplant them.

Are there any strategies out there such as putting some sort of liner in the ground or something like that?

Thanks!

how about 1 to 3 gallon pots.. with a good tree media .. and place the pots in bright shade.. and water them once in a while..

and.. it might depend on what kind of trees.. by name ...
