Buckeye Flowering

I have a two foot tall buckeye tree in my back yard.I was very surprised to see it bloom last spring.Do they usually bloom when this small ?

This is by no means a scientific answer but plants tend to bloom when stressed. In addtion I know some Aesculus bloom when young. Gentlemen nearby had a 3' A. pavia bloom.

I grow A. pavia and A. glabra, and A. pavia do bloom quite young. Most of my progeny bloom a season after they leave the pots and situated in ground and are unstressed. I have not seen the same thing in the A. glabra or flava.
