the pine.. my guess .. see link ... flip to images

never saw a plant with thorns in the middle of a leaf ... cool ...

very large flowers on the bramble .... do you imagine its a cultivar...??? .. or are these pix from the wild???

why are all flowers shaped similar to the loropetalum .. highly fragrant ????.... i always wondered ... its like they have to make up for not having a giant showy flower ...

Ken, look closely to the "pine needles". Examine them careful. See if anything ... the picture is large.

Big hint, the order does not exist in the Americas. There is only one family in the order and only one genus in that family.

I will take a guess on the Pine.
Casuarina equisetifolia. Originally from Australia. I've seen it along the coasts in Hawaii.

Mike, that is the correct genus, congratulations. They truly look like pines. They are really flowering trees and they are not solely originated from Oceania. Three species of the genus were originated from East Asia.

The leafs and oaks do not look like the quercus mongolica. I am guessing this is the Quercus fabri Hance, or the Chinese White oak .
