Emerald Green Arborvaties - Dying

Hello,

Could you tell me if my arbs are dying? When parts of the tree appear to be dying, can that area come back to life? I have attached a few pictures. Thanks for any help.

OK. Sorry about the pictures. New at this let me try again. I have 4 pictures at one link. Thanks for your patience.

I regards to deer, I have a fenced in back yard, so that is not an option. I think the issue is the summer heat from last year. Just wondering if I should dig them out and start over with smaller trees as they are easier to establish.

I wouldn't call fenced in not an option for dear. I've seen them clear a 4 foot fence from a stand still. Not sure there capabilities from a run.

You know your surroundings the best, but if you are near wooded or have dear in the area don't rule it out.

why not just copy the html [right click in the album]and paste it here like i said???

point at a pic.. and when it pops up.. click the HTML

Photobucket

do you have a dog???

i dont think a deer would eat the bottom of a small plant. and leave the top ...

and why is it all on one side ...

is your lawn sprayed .. with fert and weedkiller.. it looks awful thick and lush [pic 1].. and would answer why there is only damage on the lawn side.. and not the fence side.. chemical drift???

Boy that looks terrible! Put a fork in the tree, it is DONE. You need to figure out the source of your problem though otherwise if you just plants replacement shrubs you'll probably end up with the same thing happening all over again.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. These trees and are our investments and they cost a lot of money.

Btw, why is that tag still there? It doesn't belong there and it doesn't look very classy. If you plant new shrubs make sure to take the tags off.

Hi again. I have about 32 of these arbs in my yard. All of them were from Lowes (except these). They were bought from Costco. The arbs I have bought have been only 2 feet or less and have done well. These 2 trees that are dying were about 5 to 6 feet tall. I think that coming from Costco, being bigger trees and planting in the spring (before the hot Midwest summer) are the factors as all of my other trees are doing great.

Thanks for your help. Back to Lowes.
