| I live in the country of central C.A. 50 miles south of Sacramento. I have a little fruit orchard that I planted. This year I added 2 white nectarines. One is a late season and the other is a mid season. The late season one has leafed out like the rest of my orchard but the mid season one has not. If you look close it sure looks like it has little leaf buds on it but every day I look, and it hasn't done anything. Is there something I should do or just replace it? Also I hate to say it but my new late season nectarine has lost 2 of it's 4 branches, is there a way that I can get that tree to send out one or two branches out of it? It's pushing leaves good right now. By the way these were bare root, thanks |

| there is a fruit forum ... and most of those peeps.. i have never seen here in the tree forum ... though i care not where you post ... and fruit peeps do things MUCH differently that tree peeps ... from a straight tree perspective .... transplanted dormant trees do weird things.. sometimes seeming like they are out of phase with reality ... all you can do .. is wait and see what happens ... all trees will put out branches.. and there is NOTHING you can do to speed the process ... i think your base problem.. is thinking that trees grow like annuals/perennials.. trees can take decades to get a real move on ... so bottom line.. relax and enjoy the process ... ken ps: late season bargain plants are always a risky business.. because you really dont know how they were maintained by the store you bought them from.. excessive branch loss is either a function of poor care last summer.. or improper transplant.. and i would prefer to blame them.. rather than you.. lol .. |
