Dutch elm disease makes me worry about the Elm.

If you have an expert on it handy or time to read up on that culticar or version it could be a choice. I know little about it and the disease so I say the Linden is safer

For me, Frontier Elm. Sterile hybrid, not as large for the space that it will occupy, should be tough, burgundy fall color.

Thanks so much for the input so far. Does anyone like the sterling silver linden? I'm reading that it flowers, grows taller, and provides more shade...but those seed clusters make me nervous. Apparently both are supposed to be great in the climate, and both are somewhat disease and bug resent....it's just that I don't know which is a better choice, more attractive, better maintenance etc. Also, I may have been able to convince them to try placing it to the far right, where the old tree was, which would be better than randomly plopped in the middle I think. I'm tree dumb, so tell me what to do tree geniuses! ;-) I'm lost!

There is not a right or wrong. This is more about personal preferences. Pick the one you like better, go with it, and don't think about it any more. Just take care of the new tree and enjoy.
