The temperature last night went down to 30. I have a few baby red oak seedlings are really sad and wilted looking after that freeze. Are these trees probably dead or not?

Hard to say. 30 isn't the worst of temps.... I hope the trees come through for you. Cover them in the future. It's worth the investment.

It all 'pends, Ss. Were these seedlings in a greenhouse and then just planted out? If that was the case, then yes, they would be very tender and would have not had to develop any toughness to withstand completely normal springtime temp. swings. But....if they have been outside all spring now, I'd hardly think a night of 30F would even phase them. +oM
