Sassafras albidum and neighboring plants

So Philadelphia had a free yard tree giveaway over the weekend and I preregistered for two trees. All of the understory natives were gone by time I got there. The only trees left aside from Asian pears and crabapples were two sassafras (5 gal potted), which I took, figuring I could find a home for them.

There are a few in the woods across the street that I know of, but never really looked into sassafras before and came upon this bit of info:

"Sassafras is allelopathic and can discourage the growth of certain other plants within its root zone."

There's nowhere left to plant on my property without being in close proximity to other plants. Was planning on using one in a hedgerow and giving the other to a neighbor but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't find someone with a ton of space in their yard or just find a home for them in the woods. Anyone have info on what plants don't make good neighbors?
