We have to put in a new mail box, so I dug a hole. Ran into several small tree roots, easily severable with the shovel. Will pouring a quickcrete fence post mix in the hole damage the tree (some kind of pine/fir) via the roots the mix comes in contact with? The tree trunk is nearly a yard thick, so nice and mature, and our cable lines go through forks in the branches. I don't want to damage the tree in any way, but I DO want to fix my pole in the hole securely so it won't wobble...

Advice, please! Quickcrete - Y/N? Or just go get some big rocks and pile them around....??
