Planting Ann Magnolia tree Questions

I ordered a tree from arborday.org last Fall and it was shipped this Spring (although we can hardly call it a "true" spring yet). It says to plant as soon as possible, but we are still getting cold temps overnight in the 30s. Is it safe to plant a bare-root tree Now?

Yes, as long as it isn't all full of tender new leaves.

Magnolias aren't usually bare rooted, implying the weather may not be your biggest problem with this specimen.

i would pot it .. in a cactus ypr potting media .... and put it against the north side of the house.. and get it to grow a root mass ... for the rest of this year... if in fact.. it budded out ....

and then plant it in the proper fall planting season ...

arbor day is a nice place to make a donation.. but historically.. they have not sent the best stock ...

mostly i pot them.. they are given to me by neighbors who made the donation ... because they are so small i would step on them if i planted them in the garden ...
