Planting Trees after Herbicide (Crabgrass Preventer) Applied

My lawn was just treated for crabgrass (spring application) and two trees were delivered today that I need to plant on the treated lawn.

Will the herbicide this damage the roots of the new trees if it comes into contact? I was thinking of discarding the top layer of dirt under the sod, so it does not get mixed in with the soil that will be in contact with the roots, but wasn't sure of this impact in general.

I think I may have found an answer here....
This is from 1984, but if still accurate it seems that Preemergence Crabgrass Preventers and Postemergence Crabgrass Killer are safe, but Broadleaf Turf Herbicides can be damaging.

Imprelis is the one to avoid. It was used extensively in golf courses and is now known to kill certain conifers.
