These pics are relatively non-descript, but any idea what this tree or shrub is?

Hmm, Catalpa normally has very broad leaves..

But do they ever appear narrow, maybe when young?

Yep: Catalpa in early stages.

Otherwise maybe X Chitalpa.

Hmm, the leaves do seem to resemble X Chitalpa more than Catalpa...?
