brown needles beginning at base of Alaskan cypress

We have two 5 year old Alaska Cypress trees that are readily exposed to wind. A few days ago I noticed that one is developing brown needles on branches within the base of the plant. Is this wind damage [this spring we have what seems like unending strong, dry winds] even though on inside? Or the start of some kind of disease such as spider mite, etc.?

interior browning is normal .. no conifer holds its needles forever ... and the oldest.. interior needles are shed ...

exterior browning is not..

its hard to understand your choice of wording..

and chance of a pic granny???
