Im planting a jacaranda and wanted to know if there is a way to plant it so that its roots dont ruin and lift up the sidewalk and street, like a specific planting depth.

Root barriers can keep the tree from growing roots under the sidewalk and street (at least for a time), but if you don't have plenty of room for the root system (and it sounds like you probably don't), I wouldn't recommend planting the tree there. Planting depth is NOT the way to address the situation!

there is nothing you can do ... to change its genetic rooting pattern .. period ...

if you know its going to be a problem.. then odds are.. wait for it.. ITS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM ...

and no barrier will stop it.. really if it lifts sidewalks.. is a little plastic barrier going to stop it???
