though you think it only went down around 42F .... i bet it got frost/freeze damage on its leaves ...

watering will not help it ...

neither.. if it was dug out in leaf.. can those leaves be saved ...

most trees can releaf... at least once ...

keep it properly watered... and for a tree that means letting it NEAR dry in between a good SIP of water ... do NOT let it stand in too much water.. for very long.. and then let it mostly dry ..

and protect it .. if temps are predicted anywhere near 35F and given night ....

you state you are zone.. 5 ... but to think this spring.. which has been very cold.. that you havent been below 42F ..... i dont know about that ...can you favor us with a large city name???

same exact situation here in central iowa

Got the tree from Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. The leaves are all curled up... We'll see if it springs back. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Queenbee, consider that Katsura prefers reliably moist soils, at least according to all people I know who grew it.

Biggest one I've seen here growing in soil near a lake. Lake is probably where the soil came from.
