Need tree suggestions for front yard?

Hi, I am looking to place a shade tree in my front yard, I am in zone 6 and the front of the house gets full sun. I was considering a Norway Royal Red Maple because I like the red color of the leaves and we have clay soil and I read they do ok in that type of soil. The only deterrent is they seem to be slow growers. Any suggestions as to another type of tree or should I just stick with the Norway since I like the color so much? The second tree I would like to plant will be closer to the house and I want something with spectacular spring blossoms. I am looking at the redbud since I have always loved the purple blossoms. Do you think this tree would do ok in clay and full sun, and zone 6?

RE the redbud, yes, they will do fine in clay soil, and full sun. They grow naturally along river floodplains here in SE Michigan and thrive for me in clay soil OR in sandy soil. I think they're pretty versatile.

Also there are MANY cultivars of redbud that not only have different color flowers ranging form white, purple, and pink, they have a plethora of leaf colors available as well.

Another slow grower, but if you want killer bark and showy red leaves, how about Fagus sylvatica Purpurea?
