What kind of tree might this be?

We have a seedling coming up in a pot. Now about 4 inches tall, but we can't remember what seed it came from. Any ideas?

Here is a shot of an older one, we think it's same kind of tree.

Wondering if it might be Bing cherries? Hoping it is something else.

OK, you've got two entirely different plants there. The seedling is NOT the same as the one in the second picture. I honestly don't know what it is, but it's definitely NOT a sweet cherry tree. The leaves appear quite leathery.

The second, older plant is a cherry, but not a cultivated one. It is a wild black cherry, Prunus serotina. I'm positive about this one, I pull out literally hundreds of these every year courtesy of my mature, fruiting tree.

I agree, facing thousands of them right now in my cultivated beds.

I don't know what the seedling is (agree it is different), but the older one might be Photinia x fraseri, commonly called a red tip.

The second one is black cherry. Doesn't get too large in my part of NC before succumbing to disease. It western NC they become large trees.

Not sure on the first picture.

Thanks for the responses. I will keep the small one growing in it's pot for now. The larger one I pulled up. On further investigation, I determined it was indeed a wild cherry.
They draw webworms here. If I ever figure out what the small seedling is (5 inches tall now) I'll post the result.
