Can anyone tell me what tree/shrub this is? I saw it while driving through a neighborhood a few miles from our house, and had not seen this color before. The photo may not do it justice; it's orange, but in person looks more like a dark salmon. I asked at a well-known local nursery (Rosedale) but none of their tree experts could identify it. One said he might have a few ideas if it was a Fall color but this is a Spring bloom. Another thought the color might be from stress due to planting the tree/shrub too deep, but others didn't think this was the case. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The form looks like Amelanchier, but the color is bizzarro. The leaves on mine can appear white, silver and various shades of green, so the color on this one leads me to believe it can't be Amelanchier. If this is bloom, as you say, maybe another of the shocking shades from the Exbury series of Azaleas?

Big old Azalea..... Colour, bloom as leaves emerge, and characteristic fallen blossoms still hanging off the pistil suggest Exbury, Rhododendron calendulaceum, or a related hybrid.
