Stress River Birch

my 3 yr old river birch fill out this year but was sprayed for aphids and then under-planted with annuals. Within a week, the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. I am thinking I disturbed the roots when I planted these annuals. Can anyone offer suggestions?

it wasnt caused by your planting under the tree.. ever... no guilt from you about that ...

who sprayed the tree.. and why ... were there aphids on it???.. was it professionally done???.. was there a heavy FREEZE since it leafed out??? was the lawn sprayed??? ... can you post a pic...

there arent many facts to go on.... other than the annuals... and as i said.. that did not do this ...
