Leaning Young Mexican Sycamore

Hello,
We bought and planted a Mexican Sycamore last year in May (well, the nursery staff planted it). The tree was tied to a tall bamboo pole which we removed once it was planted. The tree leaned a bit to the right so I asked to have it staked. We had it staked until April. It still leans, but I read up on staking and discovered that staking is a bad idea. We had some pretty bad storms here in San Antonio a couple of weeks ago; the lean worsened a little bit so I have been re-tying it to the poles when we have storms/strong winds and un-tying it when the weather is mild. I'm still worried about the lean, though-- it's coming straight out of the ground, but when it moves with the wind the soil cracks around the base. Should I be worried? Is there anything else I can do to help the tree be more stable? Should I just leave it alone completely, even in gusty conditions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this tree is my baby and I'm worried about it :/

Thank you!
