Dogwood questions & help about anthacnose

My Dogwood tree (Cornus florida) has possibly developed anthacnose. It has some brown spots in the foilage (ex- every 3/10 leaves)and in some cases some orange/semi-purple edged leaves. It had been rainy since the last week or so. The nursery had over-mulched our tree at the trunk so instead removing all the mulch I dug up most of the mulch at the trunk to let it "breathe". I think it is anthacanose. But one question about anthacnose is does it last forever, if the conditions are dry we'll I most likely not see it? Any other help to secure my tree from anthacnose will be gladly accepted. I also usually cut off any dead leaves infected and dispose of them.

To further my post I meant if the conditions were dry next year, would i really see it much or does it really last forever?

i am not willing to rely on your guess..

we need a picture..

or you take some leaves to the county extension office..

once FULLY ID'd .. then we deal with the problem..

we dont start using chemicals.. until we are sure ...

all that said.. leaf damage on a recently transplanted tree .. transplanted out of season. is VERY common ... and not indicative of anything but the stress of shipping and planting ...

ken

i am presuming transplant on these words: nursery had over-mulched our tree at the trunk so instead removing all the mulch I dug up most of the mulch at the trunk to let it "breathe". -->>> clarify otherwise ...

Here is a link that might be useful: how to post pix

I have 0% chance of getting a pic my camera is broken and the view I'm from make it look very glitchy. It wasn't a transplant from an understory, and i got it planted in early-mid april.
