Gummosis is a non-specific ailment that is the symptom of of a number of causes, some disease-related and others not and it IS sap . But it is sap freely leaking due to (usually) pathogenic causes. In the case of the peach, I'd suspect Cytospora canker, as that is the most common reason for gummosis. The leaf curl is another, separate fungal issue. Both of these can be extremely weather related (wet, cool springs) but will need to be treated going forward.

It may be more practical to replace with a more disease resistant selection. I'd check with your local cooperative extension office for their recommendations - these will vary from region to region.

ok THANK YOU Ken and gardengal48. BTW the tree does get black knots on its leaves later in the summer. These leaves just came out.
