its either carpathian or a hybrid of carpathian and black walnut.....the lot next to mine has a hybrid....the neighbor had a bunch of carpathians and somehow they became pollinated with black walnut pollen...a squirrel planted the nut in an empty lot and now the hybrid is growing there. The hybrid has leaves like a black walnut, very fast growth, light grey bark, and it produced nuts when it was very young.

Looks like every other black walnut seedling I've ever grown.

I'm with lucky! I just planted a 2 year old seedling I have had since I collected the nut and it looks just like the one in your picture. How does it seem different to you?

The leaves just seem more paper like and serated and the stem less stout than similar stems on the big trees in the back yard.

Probably just juvenile foliage I guess.
