Japanese Maple Tree hurt? (with Pictures)

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum and new to tree care.
I'm trying to figure out this if this tree limb needs to be pruned.

It is a Japanese Maple tree and the rest of the tree has bloomed, but this one branch is refusing to do so. I'm not sure if it is a late bloomer or I should cut it.

The limb looks healthy.
It would be good to get some opinions.

David, maybe just because I am on the cell but it is difficult to tell what the limb will do. Is it alive or dead is the question.

Weather this spring has been weird. Is there a chance the branch budded up during the warm spell only to have a cold snap come through?

How about you drag your feet and give it more time? I vote for fourth of july ish. Tine for dormant buds to appear.

Curious if anyone thinks longer or shorter?

Thank toronado,

it was hard trying to capture these shots on my cell phone :]

the middle shot is a close-up of the base of the branch before it hits the trunk.

Thanks for the info and I will give it some more time.

David
