This flowering almond tree (a standard) gave wonderful tight blossoms this spring as it did last spring but now that flowering has been over for a couple of weeks I notice that several branches show no signs of leaves and some have shriveled ones. This is disappointing. Any ideas?

No unexpected frost. It is a young tree...I think this is its 3rd spring in its present location and it has been healthy and reliable (blossoms as expected) each year. Pruning the affected branches will make it look unsightly especially as it is right out the front door next to the front walkway.

Won't hurt a thing to wait a month or so and see what more happens.

I agree cearbhaill. In a couple of weeks all the leaves that should come will have grown in and then I will know the full extend of the problem.
