Marcie: Some people are not inclined to answer urgent "HELP HELP" questions about identifying a tree. You have a question, not an emergency.

It would help if you could post a photo or two.

RE: Tree with BIG leaves

It's Likely the invasive weedy tree from Asia called Royal Paulownia (Paulownia tomentosa).
I would not plant one they are a invasive and weedy like tree. Sometimes the leaf edges are toothed and lobed and sometimes they are smooth and rounded.

A great alternative native tree would be a Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa). Very similar looking but a native that's not weedy or invasive and has similar looking leaves and flowers.

Large hairy leaves of paulownia are interesting because when sprayed with water (as from a hose nozzle) the runoff looks soapy.

Geez that tree would be difficult to get a Bonsai out of ;)

RE: Tree with BIG leaves

I wonder if this wasn't a Chinese Parasoltree, Firmiana simplex? It "has a very unusual appearance for a deciduous tree, having green stems and bark and extremely large, three to five-lobed bright green leaves."
