Split on trunk

This is a northern pin oak in which the branch is still alive but there is a long split along the main trunk.

Its not shown but I did temporarily put green stretch tape around it to keep it from swaying open further. This branch is one of those you'd want to keep for aesthetics but might be one you'd prune off down the road for more clearance.

What is the best option is this case?

1) Leave it and see how it heals (only concern is whether it will cause more damage once if leaves out)

2) Prune if off right outside the branch collar like you would a normal cut

3) Prune out the branch collar since half is already separated from the main trunk
