Keep in mind Poaky, that wet-soil trees don't really "like" swampy ground, they're just able to tolerate it. That shows up in my BCs/pondcypresses. The BCs in my soggy border-stream are healthy, but only 10' tall, while pondcypresses nearby in much better drained soil are over twice as tall & 4-5 times as massive.

I would have thought that BC would love it swampy. The tree in the pic has it drier in the summer, unless we get tons of rain. It is very lush and looks great, I don't know how it can look any better. There isn't standing water for a real long time, but it has never become "dry". I guess it's not swampy just constantly moist.

Yeah, that's not truly swampy. I see lower ground nearby. The only lower "ground" near my flood-plain baldcypresses is the surface water of the stream!

There is a little indention around where the tree is. If we stop getting all the rain it will be just moist for a while. I'm not complaining about the rain. I remember when I was a kid we had droughts here. I didn't care then, I do now. Just out of picture range there is a pond, it in the neighbors yard. Their property line starts where the tall Silver Maple row starts.
