Dogwood Trees

I have two dogwoods that I planted just this year. One is on the smaller side (about 3 feet). The other is about 7 feet. The smaller one had problems with the leaves curling up and getting what I call "crunchy." I read that it might be low on water. So I purposely left the hose in the ground to make it moist. It's looking a lot better now but has started to somewhat wilt (or as I prefer to think of it, the leaves are looking weak).

The larger one now has the leaves curling up and crunchy. While we've had some rain in the area, it hasn't been significant to make the ground saturated because we had such a dry winter. Is it possible that I need to water my trees more than once a week? I really don't want these things to die. Got one for Mother's Day and the other is one that I really wanted too. Hope someone can help me keep them alive!

Newly installed trees need supplemental watering, yes.

Here is a link that might be useful: WATERING NEW TREES

supplemental watering means in your case an inch a day if they are on their first yr

An inch a DAY? I think not.
