Thanks, rhizo. I just got back on to see if someone had taken the time. Plenty of photos provided, and this person, having chickens nearby really needs an answer and is likely worried about the situation. I know it would be a piece of cake to some of these tree nerds who can identify even esoteric weird stuff.

Perhaps the lack of responses is because the poster phased it as seeking a bug identity and we nailed that one almost immediately. Maybe reposting asking for tree identification would bring a quicker response in a tree forum.
