GO FOR IT ... get rid if it for being improperly placed near a walkway ...

but dont get rid of it for a minor problem like aphids ...

but we need to perfect the ID .. because perhaps.. it can be limbed up... and be perfect near a walkway ... as a shade tree ...

we may need a better pic of some leaves.. not washed out by sun ... and with a scale ... and perhaps a pic of the whole ...

do you think it was intentionally planted there ... if not.. then its probably a rogue seedling.. and worth little or nothing ...

if it does have value.. it can probably be moved in fall when it loses its leaves ..

Hi - Thanks for the input so far!
I included a close up shot here ..if you look closely you can see the aphids on the leaves to the right, but I have no issue fighting with those critters if the specimen is worth saving.
Given it's placement I'm pretty sure it was a rouge, but it is so very close to the edge of the walk digging it up to transplant it may be impossible.
A neighbor said she agrees it could be a Tilia, but let me know what you guys think now that you can see it up close.
I'll wait to see what to think before I spend the weekend going all Paul Bunyan on it :).

I think the other posters were more likely correct after seeing the latest pic. Looks like some kind of prunus to me, too
