Coppicing Firmiana simplex?

I have a 3-year old, in-ground Firmiana simplex. If I perform a trunk chop below existing foliage, does anybody know if the plant will bud back? Or will I kill it?

You'll kill it. That family doesn't coppice.

While bored, I was browsing the last available page of threads for this forum and happened to look at this one. Well my addition is a little late, but...

Dan is wrong on this one. Firmiana simplex can indeed, and frequently is, coppiced with great results.
