Leaf drop on Healthy Native Persimmon

calliope

It's happened for two or three years now, awaken to find perfectly healthy, green leaves scattered under a native persimmon tree. No noticeable insect pressure. No storm or winds beforehand. Not just a few leaves, but dozens and dozens. They're still green and healthy looking. It struck me that the only similar situation I'm aware of would be from Maple petiole borers, but cannot find a petiole borer specific to persimmon, nor any suggestion that Maple petiole borer will use anything but a maple tree as host. My maples are symptom free. Any thoughts? This only occurs over a short time interval in late spring....week or two duration about the same time as flower drop from fruiting. Does not seem to have ever impacted the general health of the tree, so haven't been motivated to explore, but I'm curious.
