Japanese Maple Dropping Seeds

Two years ago, I transplanted a Japanese Maple from one are of my property to another. I believe the tree was originally planted when my home was built in 1992, so that would have made the tree around 20 years old when I moved it. It's not very large for a 20 year old tree, but it was planted in an extremely confined area surrounded by concrete on all sides. I'm not sure the kind of Maple it is, but I was told by a friend that it looked like a Bloodgood. My tree just started dropping it's helicopter seed pods, so I thought I'd try potting a few for the heck of it to see if they'd grow. When I searched this topic, I found that a Bloodgood in my zone won't drop it's seeds until later in the year (October). There are still plenty on the tree, but there are a lot on the ground already too. Is this out of the ordinary for any Japanese Maple?

I know I need pictures, I will post some pictures of the tree, leaves, and bark later today.
