Yeah, tree pruning is in the eye of the beholder. Its a little thin now, but looks decent. Too bad its to your landscaper's liking though. Thank goodness he isn't giving folks haircuts.

I bet it regrows its lower branches. Mine is a supposed tree form and I can tell it wants to return to multi-stemmed shrub. Just let the sun hit the trunks and awaken those dormant buds or wait for some suckers to pop up.

Thanks toronado3800! That's what I am hoping for that it regrows it's lower branches. Maybe I'll check to see if there is some kind of tree hormone that I can apply to encourage those dormant buds....

My 'Autumn Brilliance' are grafted so I remove any suckers arising from the ground or from below the graft union (suckers are from a seedling and do not have the same 'DNA' as 'Autumn Brilliance')
Just be aware of that.

There isn't any hormone you may apply. I do suspect buds will form however at previous branch junctions and along its trunk... it happens with all my fruit trees and serviceberry is definitely akin. I cannot say with certainty though.

Yes, it is going to sprout replacement shoots from the lower half. Do not tip back that part which still has leaves, just leave the whole thing to recover on its own. And tell the "landscaper" you think the customer should decide if they want the entire bottom half of their tree made bare, to look as though stripped by deer or something.
